HISTORY

1965

Foundation by Jean Roche of the traditional dancers and musicians group (8 people) : "Lo gars d'cheu nous"

1970

The group changes its name to the " Bourrée Gannatoise " and takes part in the National Conference a Folklore held in Nevers.

1973

Membership of CIOFF (International Council of Organisations for Folklore Festivals).

1974

First three-day World Festival of Folklore in Gannat with folklore groups from Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Romania, Turkey. And representing France : Guadeloupe, Savoy and Normandy

1978

The Festival now lasts 10 days and attach great importance to distant cultures.

1980

Creation of the Association Nationale de Diffusion des Cultures Traditionnelles (National Association for the Dissemination of Traditional Cultures)

1983

Creation of "La maison du Folklore", the association headquarters, in an old malt distillery premises

1984

Information newsletter information: " La Gazette de l'Union "

1985

Creation of a panel of experts for the folkore protection recommendation. Its president is Jean Roche, government expert.

1989

Adoption by the UNESCO of the recommendation for traditional and folk culture protection. The association commited to apply it.

1999

Implementation of the Programme " Mémoires en Bocage Bourbonnais " and the operation " Été des Cultures du Monde en Massif Central " (Summer of Cultures of the World in the Massif Central area).

2000

Launching the "Fête du Chardon et des Plantes Piquantes" - Thistle and Prickly Plants Festival

2002

All associations merged ("La Bourrée Gannatoise except)
