PRESENTATION

National Association of Cultures and Traditions has worked for almost 40 years to safeguard and to expand traditional and folk cultures as defined by the UNESCO.

The definition of Folklore given by UNESCO:
Folklore or "Traditional and Folk Culture" is the whole of tradition-based creations of a cultural community, expressed by a group or individuals and recognized as reflecting the expectations of a community in so far as they reflect its cultural and social identity; its standards and values are transmitted orally, by imitation or by others means. Its forms are, amond others, language, literature, music, dance, games, mythology, rituals, customs, handicraft, architecture and other arts.

Thanks to its original structure, to the strong commitment of its volunteer workers, its local, national and international networks, its developping partnerships, the National Association of Cultures and Traditions has collected knowledge and know-how in different cultural fields and has done its utmost to pass it down with friendliness. The association has contributed to the promotion and development of the region and has also helped different people meet each other.

The association has 3 main actions :
- Ethnographic research and handing traditional know-how down
- Cultural events organization
- Artistic consultancy and programming folklore groups in France and in Europe
